Frequently Asked Questions

What do we do if it rains?
We recommend including a tent in case of rain. It should be large enough to accommodate seats for all guests. The top of our barn is also an option. It can seat 150-200 people.

Is there a place for the bride to dress before the wedding?
Yes, although our Farmhouse is not open to guests, we do recommend that the bride and her attendants relax and enjoy a light refreshment in our second floor studio. It includes ample windows for watching guests as they arrive.

Are dogs allowed?
We realize it's a temptation for people to bring their pets to a Farm. A dozen dogs can quickly change both the atmosphere at a wedding, and the look of our many gardens. If people do bring dogs we require that they be leashed at all times. We also provide bags for their waste disposal and ask that you use them.

Is there a place for children to nap?
If you feel this will be an issue for your guests, for a fee we can provide a small enclosed tent in a quiet area complete with travel cribs and a babysitter.

Are there local accommodations for our out-of-town relatives?
There is a large selection of hotels/motels six miles away in Red Wing, Minnesota. Be advised that Red Wing has many summer events for tourists and rooms fill up quickly. Ask us about setting aside blocks of rooms well in advance or see our list of favorite sites.

What are the bathroom accommodations? Is there running water?
Clean and comfortable satellite toilets are provided for every event. When necessary, we can include a handicap accessible toilet as well. We do provide a small outdoor sink area with fresh water, soap and towels.

Do I need a licensed caterer, or can I bring my own food for the event?
Windbeam Farm does not offer catering, but we have a selection of licensed caterers to recommend. If our clients want to bring their own food, we are open to discussing the possibilities.
